How to make coconut stilts

This activity will help the child Gross motor skills and balance

Procedure

  1. Using the sandpaper, clean and smoothen the surface and edges of the coconut shells.

  1. Using the nail, punch a small hole at the center of each coconut shell.

  1. measure the string from the child’s foot to his/her waist and cut.

  1. Tie one end of each string into a knot.

  1. Insert the other end of the string in the hole of the coconut shell and pull up the knotted end.

  1. Do the same procedure with the other coconut shell.

  1. The child wears the stilts like thong slippers (each string placed between the first two toes of each foot.)

  1. As he stands on the shells, let him pull the strings tightly and walk on tiptoes.
